Dialogue on the security situation in the Blatsk Sea region

The NGRN team together with colleagues from the New Strategy Center (Romania) and the Center for Global Studies “Strategy XXI” (Ukraine) conducted a brainstorming session on regional security and international relations. Discussions were focused on assessing the security situation in the Black Sea region, the crisis on the Ukrainian-Russian border and negotiations between the United States, NATO and Russia.

Russia’s military build-up poses a real threat to Ukraine, as well as to European security in general. The policy of spheres of influence that Moscow intends to revive cannot be accepted, as it restricts the right of sovereign states to choose their own alliances and international organizations in which they wish to participate.

The debate benefited from presentations by Mr. Mykhailo Samus, Director, New Geopolitics Research Network, and Mr. Mykhailo Gonchar, President, Center for Global Studies “Strategy XXI”. The dialogue was moderated by Ambassador Doru Costea, a member of the Scientific Council of the New Strategy Center.
