Reality Check for Russia as Ukraine Hits Black Sea Fleet

Director of the New Geopolitics Research Network Mykhailo Samus has said that Ukraine is giving Russia a reality check by destroying the Russian Navy’s Black Sea Fleet. The expert shared the details with TV Espreso.

“Ukraine, the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are beginning to bring Russia back to reality by destroying the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy. Because of Russia, there is nothing left of maritime law in the Black Sea: everything has been destroyed and only the law of force works. I think that the destruction of the Black Sea Fleet will create  conditions for the return of the foundations of international maritime law to the Black Sea,” said Samus.

The military expert added that Turkey should pay attention to Russia’s new naval doctrine.

“Putin’s new maritime doctrine should be evaluated as a declarative document. Although in the place of such states as Turkey and the United States of America, this doctrine should be taken seriously. After all, it seems to me that Russia wants to put its paw even on the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits – the Russians  consider these straits vital for themselves, so the Russian Federation can use military force. This is a direct challenge to Turkey,” noted Mykhailo Samus.
